Activities of project ALTER


Project “ALTER - Active Local Territories for Economic development of Rural Areas” implementing project cluster established by networks and national organisations from West Balkan countries and Turkey, supported by Croatian Network for Rural Development, Latvian Rural Forum and PREARE network. Base of the project is daily activities of the partners supported by natural partnership, built on a multi-year partnership and framework of PREPARE and Balkan Rural Development Network and using good practice of partners and regional initiatives as SWG platform it is.
The project is financed by European Union and duration is 40 months.

The project supported capacity building of national networks and network initiatives in West Balkan countries and Turkey about advocacy and lobbying, research and analysis, with a focus on sustainable rural development. The regional training was organised in Vrnjačka Banja from 29 August to 2 September 2016 and 14 participants of CSO and CSO networks from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey have possibility to learn about issues and experience of Croatian in policy analysing and reporting.

In September (13th to 16th) in Voskopoje in Albania, in coordination with PREPARE network and Albanian Network for Rural Development was organized international gathering of CSO Networks in the applicant countries and countries with relevant experience within the EU. This event support shearing experience about two key themes relevant for civil society in West Balkan and Turkey: “Strengthening the capacity of CSOs and CSO Networks to participate actively in policy planning and implementation, to build a strong civil society in rural areas, and to enhance regional development through networking and cooperation” and “Building the partnership of CSOs and CSO Networks with public institutions, and their involvement in decision-making and governance processes, for the well-being of rural communities”.
In coming period the project partners will continue to work on development national advocacy plans for rural development support, to support capacity building of the CSO in each country about advocacy and policy monitoring and also will be analysed framework for sustainable rural development in each of 7 project countries.
