2nd European Periurban LEADER Meeting in Portugal
ADREPES, the portuguese LAG of Península de Setúbal, is organizing the 2nd European Periurban LEADER Meeting. It will take place in FORUM MUNICIPAL de ALCOCHETE, the 2 and 3 December 2010.
The main objective of this event is to continue the debate begun last year in Le Mans on innovative solutions to enable the implementation of development strategies for periurban territories.
The location of such territories has led to a series of constraints that require fast and effective intervention to ensure basic services for a scattered population, guarantee the social integration of new inhabitants and maintain traditional activities, thereby avoiding urbanisation spreading like an oil spill, with fertile land being replaced by concrete, contamination of aquifer resources and abandonment of the agricultural economy.
